I find I am not able to fully wrap my mind around such a thing as evil. Not so much evil itself, but how people can be capeable of it. I don't understand it. But I believe that the same potential for evil exists in you and me as it did within the Nazis, and the thought horrifies me.
I wonder: what makes us human? Is it just biology, or is it more? When a person has lost their humanity, are they even still a person?
As I was looking at a picture of people being taken out of boxcars, the song "Hands of Kindness" came on. How could God watch his children be slaughered? And how can he love the slaughterers?
I think I am as far from understanding love as I am from evil.
If only Adam had known when he ate the apple.
